A requiem meeting has been held near the memorial sign to the soldiers-internationalists. It is dedicated to the Day of the introduction of troops into Afghanistan. The first deputy mayor Mykhailo Kogut, representatives of the municipality, veterans, relatives and friends honored the memory of the victims.
“These events claimed the lives of Mariupol sons, parents, men and friends. Thousands of human lives have been wounded and destroyed. They hurt our hearts after decades. On this day we honor the memory of our fellow countrymen. Yes, they did not return home, but the memory of them will live on forever. It is in our power to convey the memory of those events,” Mykhailo Kogut noted.
After a minute of silence, a three-time salvo of the Guard of Honor was heard. At the end of the meeting, everybody who was present, laid flowers at the memorial.
