In the floodplain of the Kalchik River, a requiem rally was held near the memorial to the internationalist soldiers. It is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from the Republic of Afghanistan and the Day of commemoration of participants in hostilities in the territory of other states.

The rally was attended by the first deputy mayor Mikhail Kogut, the deputy mayor Sergey Zakharov, the chairman of the Priazovsk Association of Afghan Veterans Alexander Vlasov, relatives and friends of the victims, military personnel and the younger generation of Mariupol citizens.

Addressing the audience, Mikhail Kogut noted: “War is pain and irreversible losses. No one will compensate for the loss of a son, a husband and a father. Today we must not forget about the consequences of that war in order to prevent their recurrence in the future”.

The memory of the dead was honored with shots in the sky and a minute of silence. The rally ended with the laying of flowers at the monument to soldiers-internationalists.

Also in ‘Iskra’ Palace of Culture, Mikhail Kogut handed over thanks and memorable gifts to the internationalist soldiers.
