The park of ‘Mariupol tram-trolleybus management’ public enterprise has been updated, modern equipment and technical base are being created and training is provided for the staff. Investment into the development over three years is more than UAH 300 mln. 113 units of transport have been purchased.

According to the head of Mariupol tram-trolleybus management Vitaliy Donev, the main task of the enterprise for today is the purchase of a new transport and decommissioning of obsolete. Since 2016, 60 trams, 24 trolley buses and 29 new buses have filled up the management park.

‘Due to these measures for the introduction of new technology, we were able to improve the situation on the central avenues of our city. Levoberezhnyi and Primorskiy districts of the city were tied together. Wages to drivers were risen up to UAH 10 000,’ Vitaly Donev says.

He noted that the company needs staff. Due to the shortage of personnel, the management faces a number of problems. Transport goes to the line not in full. To solve this problem, you need 50 conductors and 20 drivers more.

In addition, management feels the lack of large-capacity transport. But this year, MTTM hopes to resolve this issue. The company plans to purchase about 70 units of trolley buses and about 60 units of buses. To do this, negotiations with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Finance Corporation should be led. Vitaliy Donev stressed that this would solve the problem of lack of transport for the villages.

‘We have already addressed this issue. The new route 15 bus essentially solves the problem  Vostochnyi microdistrict, and route 12 in Kurchatovo. When new equipment arrives, such problem areas will be closed,’ he assured.

It is worth noting that in order to save money, city residents can purchase travel tickets. Their action lasts from the date of purchase and is valid for a month. It can be bought in any public transport.
