Rinat Akhmetov Charity Fund has transferred additional equipment to Mariupol branch of the Donetsk Laboratory Center - two centrifuges and a solid-state thermostat. This equipment will allow the most efficient and highly accurate research to identify coronavirus infection.
The head of Mariupol branch of the State Institution ‘Donetsk Regional Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine’ Volodymyr Tereshchenko noted that this equipment was not enough for the laboratory to complete the research cycle.
‘Centrifuges provide fractionation of various reagents for RNA isolation, equipped with a cooling function. The solid-state thermostat is designed for controlled long-term incubation of the studied samples. This equipment will become a reliable assistant in detecting not only coronavirus, but also other dangerous infections,’ he emphasized.
According to the project manager of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, Mikhail Katerinchak, starting in February, Rinat Akhmetov sent UAH 300 million to fight COVID-19. To do this, he combined all the resources - a charity fund, FC Shakhtar, DTEK companies, Metinvest Group. Earlier, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation gave to Mariupol over 20 thousand rapid tests to detect COVID - 19. They allow to check a patient with suspected virus in 15 minutes. Due to this, doctors can quickly diagnose and provide the necessary assistance.
