Mariupol has celebrated the Day of France for the second year. Various locations and photo zones were organized on the Theater Square. Mayor Vadim Boichenko and the French Ambassador to Ukraine Isabelle Dumont congratulated the residents on the holiday.

First, the Mayor and the ambassador visited ‘Vezha’ creative space. The French delegation was told the story of the building and conducted a study tour. After that, Isabelle Dumont and Vadim Boichenko got acquainted with the paintings of Mariupol artists placed along the avenue.

Thousands of Mariupol residents gathered at the Theater Square. An orchestra played here, entertained pantomimes and in front of the theater entrance they organized a copy of the Cannes Film Festival with a red carpet and a photo zone. There were French flags along the footpaths.

On the main stage, the chamber orchestra ‘Renaissance’ played Ukrainian and French anthems for the guests. Vadim Boichenko thanked Isabelle Dumont for support in implementing important projects for Mariupol.

‘Mariupol has chosen the European path of development and will never leave it. It was not by chance that the European Square appeared in the Theater Square. It is very good that on this difficult path there are true partners who are always there. They supported us in this difficult time. Our French friends helped us solve one of our main problems - the issue of water supply. Thank you for the support,’
the Mayor noted.

In turn, Isabelle Dumont confessed her love for Mariupol and asked residents to repeat a couple of phrases in French. The area of the choir spoke in a foreign language.

‘What we are trying to do is not just words, but certain deeds. I hope that due to our help, in a few years you will be able to drink tap water. I believe that what we do will bring something positive for your city and other European countries will start to be interested in Mariupol,’ the Ambassador said.

After congratulations there was a raffle of a trip to Paris. To participate in it, you had to tell your love story. The winners were a young family with a symbolic number one.

In the evening the performance of the famous Ukrainian musician Alexander Polozhinsky will take place on the square.
