Today in Mariupol there is a steady decline in the incidence of coronavirus infection. According to statistics, more than 94% of the total number of patients with Covid-19 have already recovered. In hospitals, 30.5% of beds are occupied. In addition, a major overhaul of the vascular surgery department was completed at the Cardiovascular Center. This was announced by Mayor Vadym Boichenko at the final briefing on the epidemiological situation.

The Mayor noted that despite the positive statistics, the city is preparing for a possible third wave of the coronavirus pandemic. In this regard, the municipality, together with medical staff, is developing an algorithm for further combating Covid-19 in advance.

According to the director of the health department Andrei Rempel, despite the decrease in the level of diseases, the number of tests is not decreasing.

Also, repairs are being completed in two surgical departments of city hospital No. 9. New beds are being equipped and the oxygen is supplied to them. Already on February 15, 1000 beds will be prepared and equipped with oxygen.

The modernization of medical institutions also continues. In particular, after the renovation, a vascular surgery department was opened in the Cardiocenter. It is equipped with a modern operating room, intensive care wards and has 20 beds. Ventilation and air conditioning systems were equipped, engineering networks were replaced.

“Cardiovascular surgery is a unique direction that was not in Mariupol four years ago. Today we can state a decrease in mortality from cardiovascular diseases by almost two times. At the vascular distance, modern equipment has been installed and highly professional specialists are working to save the lives of Mariupol residents,” Vadym Boichenko stressed.

There is also a public pharmacy in the Cardiovascular Center. There are nine of them in various medical institutions of the city. According to the Mayor, four years ago, only 26% of residents rated the city's medical system positively. Today, trust has grown to 65%.

All pharmacies are socially oriented. Here the medicines are certified and sold at an affordable price. All state programs for privileged categories of the population operate. This year it is planned to open four more pharmacy points.

Moreover, medical institutions are equipped with high-power generators, which make them energy self-sufficient. Today such equipment is installed in the Cardiocenter. This year, five more medical institutions are next in line.
