The Day of the deputy has been held in ‘Molodiozhnyi’ Palace of Culture. The topic of the day was the question of changing the fare for public transport in the city.

According to the director of the department of transport and communications Vasiliy Klat, the change in the fare is occured due to the need to improve the quality of transport services and the growth of wages, as well as the cost of electricity, fuel and materials.

‘Our task is to create a modern transport infrastructure in Mariupol. For three years, 113 units of public transport were acquired. The city invested over UAH 230 million in the development of transport. They introduced the most modern dispatching system, installed more than 50 electronic scoreboards and launched a mobile application. Since March 1, all emergency trams have been removed. The new transport that we will receive this year will be sent to all parts of the city,’ he assured.

Head of MTTA enterprise Vitaly Donev presented a detailed report on the formation of the tariff structure. He also noted that now the company is facing a shortage of electricians, fitters, painters and bus drivers. Many leave because of low wages. In addition, there is an acute need for the reconstruction of the trolleybus and bus depot in Mariupol. All this requires a substantial financial resource.

At the same time, Vitaliy Donev reminded that for the convenience of residents in Mariupol a ticket is valid. Its cost is 330 UAH, and for schoolchildren and students - 165 UAH. A single trip for a ticket will cost Mariupol residents 5.50 UAH, for a school and student ticket - 2.75.

It is worth noting that due to the work of Mariupol with International Financial Institutions IFC and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) this year it is planned to purchase more than 130 units of new equipment. The total amount of planned investments in the development of urban transport is more than EUR 30 million.

In his turn, deputy mayor Sergey Zakharov noted that work is now underway to formulate requirements for private carriers on the compliance of their vehicles with sanitary standards and technical condition.

It is also worth noting that on March 18 at 14.00 in depot No. 4 there will be a discussion on the quality of the services provided by private carriers. The event will be attended by Deputy Mayor Sergei Zakharov, deputies, representatives of the Department of Transport and Communications, Patrol Police, ‘Ukratransbezpeka’ and the public.
