An open discussion has taken place in Mariupol regarding the intention to increase the tariff for water supply and sanitation in 2019. The first deputy mayor, Mikhail Kogut, met with the residents to listen to questions of interest of the public.

‘The main reasons for the need to revise the tariff were the rising costs of electricity, the purchase of water from ‘Donbass water’ company and the growth of salaries of employees of a utility company,’ Mikhail Kogut said.

According to Svetlana Shcherbatykh, Head of the Planning and Economic Department of the Mariupol Administration of Water and Waste Water Services, due to the current tariff, the company's losses for 2018 amounted to UAH 92.4 million. This leads to an increase in accounts payable to ‘Donbass Water Company’ public utility.

Now, by the decision of the National Commission regulating the energy sector, a single tariff has been introduced for both the multi-storey residential sector and the private sector.

During the hearings, all issues of interest to the public were considered. They were recorded in the minutes. Relevant documents will be sent to the National Energy Regulatory Commission.
