A working meeting with French experts of technical assistance of the European Union is held in Mariupol

Deputy mayors Sergey Orlov and Sergey Zakharov have held a working meeting with French experts of EU technical assistance in the framework of  “Assistance to the Ukrainian authorities in improving the management of the infrastructure project cycle’’ project. It involves the improvement and modernization of transport links in Ukraine. The meeting considered options for updating railways, their electrification and other issues.

As Sergey Orlov said, starting in 2016 in Mariupol there has been an increase in economic activity. One of the factors is the high average salary and increased purchasing power of residents. The local development budget has increased significantly. Today it is 44 million dollars.

‘Now we see that young people are already planning their future in their hometown. Six higher education institutions are based in Mariupol. The number of jobs has increased. The level of quality of medical care has increased. The military received a permanent deployment point. We have large-scale cultural festivals. They collect ten thousand of guests from other cities and countries. Mariupol is becoming interesting in terms of tourism. All this is an occasion for the modernization of the city’s infrastructure,’ Sergey Orlov said.

In turn, Sergey Zakharov spoke about examples of European countries that can be applied in Mariupol.

At the end of the meeting, transport infrastructure expert Alan Godry noted that French experts will consider options for reducing the travel time of passenger trains that depart from Mariupol.
