During the working visit to Mariupol, Petro Poroshenko has visited the converter shop of Mariupol Illyich Iron and Steel Works. The President took part in the launch of the steel-making complex of the continuous casting machine-4.
Petro Poroshenko together with Metinvest Group Director General Yuriy Ryzhenkov and Director of Illyich Iron and Steel Works Taras Shevchenko appreciated the new equipment and saw the first slabs.
Complex CCM-4 is a high-performance continuous casting machine. Its cost is USD 150 million. The complex is designed to meet European standards.
The introduction of new equipment into operation will allow changing the technological process of melting. The complex will improve the quality of products and increase the processing of iron. In addition, the launch of the continuous casting machine-4 will employ about 350 people.
‘The launch of the continuous casting machine №4 at the Illyich Iron and Steel Works means further development for Mariupol and a new page in the history of Ukrainian metallurgy. This large-scale project will provide clean production and new jobs, the state will receive additional currency revenues of about $ 1 billion, and the industry, the region and the city will have guaranteed prospects, ‘ Yuriy Ryzhenkov, Metinvest Group CEO said.
