Today, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelenskiy has visited Mariupol on a working visit. Together with the Minister of the Interior Arsen Avakov, the French ambassador Isabel Dumont and Mayor Vadim Boichenko, he visited the Ilyich Iron and Steel Works.
During the visit, the guests looked at the work of the machine for continuous lithium blanks No. 4. The project cost is $ 150 million. The complex is designed to meet European standards.
A contract was also signed between the French company Air Liquide and the Metinvest Group regarding the construction of a modern air separation plant. It will provide the needs of the plant for oxygen, which is necessary for the production of pig iron.
The President of Ukraine noted that this is an important investment project both for Mariupol and for the country. Besides, Vladimir Zelenskiy appreciated Isabelle Dumont for the partnership and faith in the stability of Ukraine.
In turn, Isabel Dumont stressed that the construction of the complex gives hope of faith in the future: ‘Mariupol is becoming more and more attractive, despite the impact of the conflict in the Donbass. We are sure that Ukraine and France will continue to move forward towards new goals and accomplishments’.
CEO of Metinvest group Yuriy Ryzhenkov added that the production complex will be built on its own.
‘We are modernizing not only the main production but also the supporting infrastructure. The last time such a project was implemented in the pre-crisis 2007. For the first time in 12 years, we will build an industrial complex on our own,’ Yuriy Ryzhenkov concluded.
