Major repairs have been completed in the neurological department of the city hospital No. 4. The renovated wards and the rehabilitation room were examined by Mayor Vadym Boichenko.
“The life and health of people is our priority. As a result, the number of people rescued increased by 20%. Mariupol will continue to improve conditions in hospitals in order to save the life of every patient, as well as to give our talented doctors the opportunity to unleash their potential, ”the Mayor emphasized.
As the head of the department, Volodymyr Shepotinnik, said, the wards, a bathroom, a manipulation room and an intensive care unit were renovated in the department. About 1200 patients are treated here a year. 75% of them fall with a stroke.
“Over the past three years, the mortality rate in our department has decreased to 10%. This is in line with European indicators, ” the doctor said.
The hospital has opened up new opportunities for the rehabilitation of patients. Modern specialized simulators were purchased. According to neuropathologist Yevgen Shepotinnik, the plans are to develop medical tourism.
“We entered the international German-American project for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. We are the only center in the east of our state. Therefore, we can treat residents from all over the region, ” the doctor said.
