The first results of the preparations for the opening of the walking tour were summed up in ‘Vezha’ creative space. Its starting point is a railway station. Further, the route with a length of 5 kilometers will follow historically significant places for Mariupol. There are 17.
A map of the tour will be printed in tourist booklets. In the same place it will be possible to find the brief information on historical buildings of old Mariupol. For the convenience of the residents and the visitors throughout the route, road markings will be embedded in the asphalt. Informational signs with QR codes will be placed at each location. It will be possible to find more detailed facts about the life of the city.
In addition to the independent route, you can join the planned guided tours. Their schedule will appear after the completion of all preparations. The highlight of the project will be 6 mini-sculptures depicting a famous Mariupol architect Viktor Nielsen.
The purpose of the excursion is to instill the interest of young people in their native city and to draw the attention of tourists to Mariupol, as a tourist city. The final point of the route will be the Water Tower. Interactive kiosks will be installed in it and on the territory of the railway station. With their help, the guests of Mariupol will be able to learn about places of recreation, tourist facilities, cafes etc.
Chief Specialist of the Development and Promotion Department of Mariupol City Council Victoria Davva told that the project has already been prepared for 3 months. During this time, about 300 people took part in the online voting. 4 test excursions were conducted, which were visited by 47 people. The project is a USAID grant program. It is being implemented on the initiative of ‘Vezha’ with the support of Mariupol City Council.
