Today, the United Nations System Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine Osnat Lubrani has visited Sartanskaya pumping station. During the visit, the first deputy mayor Mikhail Kogut appreciated  the organization for its cooperation and spoke about the features of this object.

In 2017, the Sartanskaya pumping station was reconstructed. In particular, two pumping units and pipelines were replaced. There are two automatic control cabinets. Repairs of structures and facilities of the station building have been completed. The total cost of the project is more than UAH 18 million. The station serves over 40 thousand people. UNICEF helped Mariupol in the project implementation.

‘Due to the help of UNICEF, we have purchased all the necessary equipment. This allowed us to start changing the main highways. And in 2017, they provided invaluable support in the reconstruction of this station,’ Mikhail Kogut said.

Besides, during the meeting, Mikhail Kogut told about  ‘Social Water’ joint project with UNICEF. Now 260 social facilities, including schools and kindergartens, are provided with high-quality drinking water.

Osnat Lubrani said that this is her first visit to Mariupol. She also noted that water supply is one of the key problems that the city successfully solves.

Repair of stations is a good start to renew the modernization of water supply routes. For us, as for the UN, it is important to help you with this. We believe that the population should receive clean water. We are trying to help you with this,’ the UN coordinator stressed.
