In Mariupol, the first in the Donetsk region office of diabetic foot has been opened. It is settled in the endocrinology department of the City Hospital № 4 named after Matsuka.
The Cabinet began its work less than a month ago. But now the patients with diabetic foot syndrome are regularly admitted.
According to Natalia Mamchur, the head of the endocrinological department of the City Hospital No. 4, it was originally planned to open a diabetic polyneuropathy room where people with diabetes would be helped.
‘We decided to go further and open a diabetic foot room. There are all possibilities for the surgical treatment of wounds and complete treatment of the foot: from grinding to complete wound healing. In the office we have two doctors - an endocrinologist and a surgeon. Due to this, patients can get all the necessary help,’ Natalia Mamchur said.
An endocrinologist Ekaterina Schelokova, who works in this office, notes that now there is an opportunity to carry out an early diagnosis of the disease.
It should be noted that the endocrinological department of the City Hospital No. 4 is the only one in the city. Here they accept both residents of Mariupol and adjacent settlements. 80% of patients visiting the department have diabetes.
The diabetic foot syndrome is called trophic ulcers, long-term healing of foot wounds that patients with diabetes mellitus have.
