During the working visit, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol has visited the Mariupol Tram andTrolley-bus Administration dispatch center and depot No. 4. Vadim Boichenko told the guest about the achievements of the city in the development of transport infrastructure and demonstrated the new buses assembled in Minsk.

During a visit to the control room, Igor Sokol was shown how public transportation is managed in the control room. Director of the Department of Transport and Communications Vasily Klat said that employees monitor the movement of buses, trolleybuses, trams and minibuses online. In addition, ‘smart cameras’ and information boards at the stop pavilions were installed. This allows the efficient operation of public transport.

‘As part of the transport strategy and the city was divided into 150 transport areas. This is the width of the streets and the speed of movement as well as passenger flow,’ Vasily Klat emphasized.

After Vadim Boichenko and Igor Sokol looked at the first delivery of buses assembled at Minsk automobile plant. This project is being implemented as part of a loan from the International Finance Corporation. It involves the supply of 64 buses, 15 of which have already arrived in the city. Soon, the transport will begin to pass “run-in”.

Vadim Boichenko drew attention to the fact that today 110 units of public transport and 200 private ones go to the line. But soon the situation will be changed.

‘Due to the fact that our Belarusian partners produce such high-quality equipment at an affordable price, we can solve the transport problems of the city. Especially during rush hours. In addition, we plan to create express routes. The main thing is that Mariupol residents will receive quality transport,’
the Mayor noted.

Igor Sokol is pleasantly surprised by both the development of transport and the modernization of the city. He joked that the only thing Mariupol lacked was Belarusian technology.

‘I was pleasantly impressed by the City Development Strategy and what I saw in the dispatch center. I see that you are undergoing significant changes in infrastructure and transport. I am sure that the new technology is an example of real cooperation,’ the Ambassador emphasized.

At the end of the visit, a tour of the historical center of Mariupol was conducted for Igor Sokol.
