The celebration of the five-year anniversary of the liberation of the city from illegal armed formations has begun with a military parade. National Guard officers, police officers, cadets of the Donetsk Law Institute and fighters of the Azov Regiment marched from Grecheskaya Square to the Drama Theater. Here, they and the residents of Mariupol were congratulated by the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Alexander Kuts, and the Mayor, Vadim Boichenko.
‘I appreciate you for your position. For the fact that you won the right to live in a peaceful, Ukrainian, flourishing Mariupol. I am grateful to all the armed formations for their decisive actions to liberate the Ukrainian city,’ the governor appreciated.
Vadim Boichenko noted that five years ago, due to the joint efforts of the residents, the military and volunteers defended Mariupol.
Besides, Mariupol residents were congratulated by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Vadim Troyan. People's deputies of Ukraine joined him.
After the welcoming speech, the servicemen received thanks from the National Guard of Ukraine and letters from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for their high professionalism and dedication.
Then, residents of the city were able to visit the entertainment locations on the territory of the Theater Square. Photo exhibition with photographs of the Azov battle road, a food court zone, master classes in forged art and weaving flower wreaths were organized.
The celebration of the liberation of the city will continue throughout the day.
