The original historical appearance of ‘Continental’ hotel is planned to be returned to ‘Molodiozhny’ Palace of Culture. In the project, there will be modernization of the internal space under the multidisciplinary Modern Art Center.
The main difference of the future Mariupol Modern Art Center is its multifunctionality. In addition to presentations, the work will be focused on education, development and creation of art. Following the example of Europe, choreographers, architects and other mentors from different countries will be involved to exchange experience in the process of training. Educational lectures on the management and promotion of art are also planned.
‘Analysis of the infrastructure of the city showed that we have more potential than Lviv but now about 90% of all scenes are empty, although we have to live. It is time to take a palm and begin to communicate actively with the world in the field of art. We have taken the initiative. The opening of the Center will be our advantage in cultural development and will bring Mariupol to a new format. It will give to Mariupol new opportunities for implementation’, Alexander Kochurin, the Deputy Mayor said.
Now the project is still under the development but the founder and ideologist of GOGOLFEST, Vlad Troitsky, revealed some details, calling on Mariupol residents to expand their horizons and avoid cliches. Thus, in the future, ‘Hotel Continental’ Modern Art Center is planned to place a gallery, several dance studios, a hall for performances, a cafeteria, a souvenir area, a mini-restaurant and a hostel for the guests.
There will be spacious viewing platforms on the roof of the building and the main entrance ‘from the courtyard’ among the innovations. As the ideologists of the project explained, the courtyard is the heart of the building. The yard will be a comfortable area for recreation and will always be open.
The total work on the project will take approximately 6 months. Then it is going to be presented to the public.
