The Memorandum of Intent on the establishment of a modern medical center has been signed by the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov, Mayor of Mariupol Vadym Boichenko and the scientific director of the project and Doctor of Medical Sciences of Ukraine Borys Todurov. The center will strengthen health care in Ukraine and develop new areas of medicine.
The project includes the establishment of a medical college, university, multidisciplinary clinic, research center, housing for teachers, medical staff and students in one area. Similar practices exist in Israel, Germany, Turkey, the Czech Republic and leading European countries.
“Since the war broke out in Eastern Ukraine, residents for the region have been left without proper medical care, as basic medical facilities have remained in Donetsk. In addition, students and teachers of Donetsk Medical University have been forced to study for years in poor conditions. The opening of a modern medical institution will be able to comprehensively improve medical care in the region,” Maxim Stepanov said.
Vadym Boichenko stressed that the creation of a medical center will be a solution to many challenges. The most important is the shortage of staff. Due to the project, a modern concept will be implemented: high medical educational establishment - clinical department - hospital. There will be a research base that will give impetus to the development of modern trends in medicine - such as genetics and reproductive health.
“Our task is to create conditions for treatment and savings lives in Mariupol, as well as to become a leading base for the development of medicine in both the Donetsk region and Eastern Ukraine. The creation fo a top-level medical center with a student campus in Mariupol will help in this,” Vadym Boychenko said.
The medical center is not only a quality treatment, but also an opportunity to develop medical technologies and implement the latest developments. Creating it together with the campus will give young people the opportunity to receive a medical specialty, practice and a modern job.
"The goal is to create a reference medical center with a strong scientific base. Now millions of people are leaving the country for Israel, Germany and the United States to have a complex operation and undergo rehabilitation courses. We can change that. To make Ukraine famous for strong medicine, quality service, modern equipment and advanced medical developments, "Vadym Boichenko stressed.
