There is a program of providing citizens with "Affordable Housing" in Mariupol. Its goal is to change the priorities in the provision of housing from the secondary market to new construction. At the session of the city council, the deputies approved amendments to it. Now lending will be provided on a lease basis with the option of subsequent purchase.

The program will help young people stay in their hometown. In turn, this will reduce the migration of professional personnel and reduce the average age of the city's population. The best practitioners from Vinnitsa, Dnipro, Kharkov took part in its creation.

‘Affordable housing is one of the key anchors that can keep young people in our city. This opens up new opportunities and prospects for young families. Therefore, we have developed an effective program that will help you get housing with minimal financial resources. We have already seen a positive response from Mariupol residents and investors to this initiative’, Mayor Vadym Boichenko said.

The last large-scale construction of residential buildings took place more than 15 years ago. The city began to buy housing on the secondary market actively. 420 flats were purchased from 2017 to 2020. The total amount is UAH 191 million. housing is being purchased at the expense of the city budget for orphans and new residents of Mariupol.

Now there are few offers on the secondary housing market. In future, it is planned to develop new construction with the involvement of investors. The construction of the first steel house in Ukraine is underway in Mariupol. The support is provided by Metinvest Group.
