Today Mariupol has taken the next step towards a sustainable green development. Mayor Vadym Boichenko signed a Memorandum with ‘Altostrata Energy Limited’ Irish company, according to which the city plans to implement an investment project by building photovoltaic stations of different capacities.
‘The signing of the Memorandum is the result of the first investment forum ‘RE: think. Invest in Ukraine’ that was held in Mariupol. I am often asked what effect it has given to our city?! This new cooperation in the energy market is one of the first examples of the things Mariupol receives. I am sure that it is not the last one and new projects are ahead of us. In addition, this is another step towards the creation of a Green Sustainable Development Strategy for the city,’ Vadym Boichenko said.
In turn, the director of the company Torsten Merkel said that our city is attractive for investments: ‘We see that today Ukraine is developing dynamically. The heads of Mariupol try to develop the city. For us, as investors, this is very important’.
He added that the project is aimed at using solar energy, but in the future the enterprise wants to deal with wind energy. This will provide the city with high-quality, but inexpensive electricity.
Deputy mayor Sergei Orlov focused on the administrative reform, which will lead to the creation of Mariupol amalgamated territorial community due to which a number of promising sites for the development of green energy will appear in the city. He noted that next year six sites will be prepared.
