‘Single Star’ action has been held in Mariupol city water sports complex. German artist Christian Schnurer brought the ‘Single European Star’ on a self-sewn flag to Mariupol to raise and leave it above the Sea of Azov. The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany Anka Feldhausen, German Consul General in Donetsk Stefan Kail and Deputy Mayor Alexander Kochurin.
Alexander Kochurin noted that today Mariupol generates vibrant cultural events: ‘Just a few days ago, the Gogolfest festival, which takes place in our city, entered the TOP-5 best festivals in Europe. I believe that the appearance of the Single Star over Mariupol will bring us good luck and new victories’.
Anka Feldhausen emphasized that the action is an important result of German-Ukrainian cooperation: ‘This is my first time in Mariupol. For a long time I wanted to see your city, which has done so much for IDPs. I hope that together we will implement more projects and actions’.
In turn, Christian Schnurer said that this star is a symbol of united Europe. The artist wanted to send this message from the easternmost point of the project.
After the greetings, the participants jointly raised a blue flag with a yellow star over the water sports complex.
It is worth noting that ‘Single Star’ is a part of the Ukrainian-German meeting of writers ‘Bridge from paper’. A year ago it was held in our city and this year it will be held in Munich and Berlin.
