Today, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has had a working visit to Mariupol. He chaired the Regional Development Council. It outlined the plans for the future development of the Donetsk region and it was also spoken about the new opportunities that the decentralization reform opens for cities.
Petro Poroshenko stressed that every visit to Mariupol is special. He recalled the tragedy at Vostochnyi which united not only Mariupol but the whole Ukraine. He appreciated the volunteers, fighters and workers of Mariupol who came to protect the integrity of our state.
He also said that the decentralization reform helps cities, like Mariupol, to develop and implement important projects.
According to the Mayor, decentralization has opened another opportunity – an international cooperation. For several years, the city was able to attract foreign investment in key projects. For this time, Mariupol has updated the city center, it has opened a modern cardiology center, it has also supported school No. 66, a technical lyceum, as well as it has updated municipal transport, etc.
The plans and the prospects of the Regional Development Council were also told by the Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Oleksandr Kuts. Besides, Kramatorsk mayor Andrei Pankov and Metinvest Group CEO Yuriy Ryzhenkov also gave a speech.
