During the working meeting the representatives of the Department of Economics of Mariupol City Council have discussed the continuation of the reconstruction of free IT space with American partners. Thus, the plans include the reconstruction of the facade of the Beetroot Hub, the replacement of the roof and the improvement of the nearby territory.

According to Deputy Mayor Sergei Orlov, a working draft for the reconstruction of the facade and its visualization is already ready: ‘The creation of this hub was the impetus for the development of the IT industry in Mariupol. We continue to develop digitalized social services for the residents and this space has become a kind of epicenter of these changes. Projects are discussed here, the meetings are opened and the events for youth are held. They also engage in chess sports, regularly host city and regional competitions’.

The representatives of an international company studied the project and made a number of recommendations. In order USAID partners to support this project, it is necessary to coordinate the number of evacuation exits, taking into account the occupancy of the space. They also noted the importance of a design solution that will fully fit the architectural concept of the city.

It is worth noting that in January 2019, the City Chess Club turned into an educational hub. Then the building was completely renovated and filled with new meaning. This project was implemented with the support of the Mariupol City Council, Metinvest Group and USAID.
