A round-table discussion on the topic ‘Revitalization of water, forest and fish resources’ took place at the Donetsk State University of Management. The event was attended by the representatives of the city council, deputies, members of public organizations and the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, the Public Movement ‘Country of Success’ and the Public Association ‘GROM-Priazovie’.
‘The purpose of this event is to disseminate information regarding the environmental problems of the city and launch environmental startups. They should contribute to the restoration of natural resources. Our focus is on the restoration of forests, water quality and fish fauna, ‘ Sergei Kutnyakov, an editor of the Small Academy of Sciences, a chairman of ‘Country of Success ‘ movement ’said.
The head of the improvement department of the housing and utilities infrastructure development department Vadim Isakov noted that the issue of natural resources is in the center of attention of the city authorities.
‘We have a landscaping program for Mariupol. Instead of the chaotic planting of trees, as it was before, we implement a systematic approach. We are actively changing and reconstructing our parks and squares, creating modern green areas, ‘ he stressed.
During the round table, a project was presented to create Mariupol dendro-aquapark in the floodplain of the Kalmius and Kalchyk rivers. Also, the deputy of Mariupol City Council, Lilia Tikhonova, focused on the need to clean up water resources and planting trees not only in the city but in the whole Azov region.
