A meeting has been held in ‘Khalabuda’ free space on the topic: ‘Eurointegration in the Donetsk Region: Opportunity or Present Reality?’ The Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Ivanna Klimpush-Tsintsadze, the Deputy Governor of the Donetsk Region Igor Stokoz and deputy mayor Mikhail Ivchenko took part there.
The Vice Prime Minister for European Integration believes that today it is important to restore European identity in the region. This is possible due to the ‘discovery’ of forgotten pages of history. In particular, she noted that the industrialization of the Donetsk region began in the nineteenth century due to the Europeans.
Ivanna Klimpush-Tsintsadze also spoke about modern opportunities for Ukraine, which are opened due to European integration. According to her, today you can enjoy the benefits of this process.
‘Last year, we singled out four main directions, due to which we can get sectoral integration into Europe. These are: energy, customs cooperation, security and the digital market. Today, joint projects on education and business development are also important. The course for European integration requires the mobilization of both state institutions and local as well as the whole society,’ she noted.
Deputy Mayor Mikhail Ivchenko told how the Mariupol authorities manage to achieve a high level of openness and transparency:
‘It was important for us to make management transparent so that people would believe in us in order for European institutions and organizations to invest financial resources in our city. And today we see the results. Our task is to provide comfortable living for all residents of the community’.
Igor Stokoz said that today, due to the European Union, the infrastructure facilities are being restored and joint projects are being launched aimed at the development of the region.
After the presentations, local entrepreneurs told about their ‘success stories’. Then everyone could express his opinion on the stated topic and ask the questions of interest.
