For the second year in a row, flats have been given to orphans on Ukrainian Flag Day in Mariupol. Twenty lucky people received long-awaited housing. Certificates and keys from a one-room flat were handed to them by the City Mayor Vadim Boichenko and the Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Alexander Kuts.

The living space was purchased under the state program for the amount of UAH 7.5 million. It was given to orphans aged from 18 to 23. All of them were in a housing list.

Vadim Boichenko said that it has become a tradition to give such gifts on Flag Day and on Independence Day of Ukraine.

‘We are worried about those people who need our help. You are orphans and you have a difficult fate. Nevertheless, you have coped with it with dignity, you have received a good education and have found yourself in life. The key issue is that you hope for the support of those people who first of all need to worry about you. This is the state and municipal government. We are not letting you down. The program, which has been systematically implemented for several years, will continue to be performed in the future,’
the Mayor stressed.

It should be noted that a similar joint program of the city and region is being prepared in Mariupol. It is planned to purchase 45 flats for orphans for total amount of 16 million UAH.

‘I am glad that I have the honor to hand over the certificate to your first place of living. It is not a bad start for an independent life. The program will be continued, ‘ Alexander Kuts said.

Orphaned children and their representatives gratefully accepted the keys to flats. They felt real support and concern from the authorities.

In the end, the honorary guests presented their first ID cards to young Mariupol residents. They congratulated them on getting the first important document in their adult life.
