Secretary of the Council Stepan Mahsma, Deputy Mayor Mikhail Ivchenko and the representatives of the structural units of the city council have met with the delegation of the U-LEAD with Europe program. The parties discussed the possibilities of a future partnership.

During the meeting, Stepan Mahsma told the guests about the achievements of Mariupol. He noticed the problems. He also presented the vision of the authorities to solve them. The secretary of the council noted that Mariupol has a Development Strategy until 2021. He told about programs that operate in the territory of Mariupol and mentioned the topic of decentralization.

‘We have taken a clear course on the development of the city. We develop internal logistics, solve the problem of water supply and improve municipal services. We have already achieved certain results. For example, Mariupol is the first in the transparency rating of cities’, Stepan Mahsma noted.

The program director Bastian Feigel stressed that their delegation arrived in Mariupol together with the European Union's review mission. It should be noted, "U-LEAD with Europe" helps Ukraine to create a multi-level management system. Be transparent and respond to the needs of citizens.

‘We decided to study the situation in Mariupol in more details and determine the vectors of our cooperation. We would like to assist in the creation of a united territorial community. It is very important. After all, the initiative that comes with the decentralization reform is an effective development at the municipal level,’ Bastian Feigel said.
