In the framework of the study mission of the European Union to the city of Mariupol, a seminar was held for the chairmen of condominiums on the issue ‘Implementation of energy efficient projects: step by step’. The seminar was organized with the support of ‘ Energy Efficiency in Ukraine’ Program of the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group (IFC / The World Bank Group).

Lecturers at the seminar were: Krzysztof Gerulski - expert of the Ukrainian Commission support to the European Commission; Yulia Pushko - Communication Advisor to the Project "Energy Efficiency Fund of Ukraine" (IFC) and Mikhail Pavlichenko - Regional Project Coordinator. The seminar was held at the premises of the “Development Fund of Mariupol” and got great interest among  the condominium representatives.

‘Holding this level of the seminar, according to our assessment, will have a tangible educational and practical effect, will help motivate co-owners of apartment buildings to implement energy-efficient measures,’ Vahagn Mnatsakanyan, head of the City Council’s Environmental, Energy Management and Labor Protection Department said.

The problem of energy saving in the housing stock of the city of Mariupol, which has 2,640 apartment buildings, is an urgent one. The city council has introduced a municipal energy efficiency support program in the residential sector.

Measures are being taken to create and support condominiums (over the past three years, more than 600 condominiums have been created, various support programs, an open resource center based on the city council’s specialized department) and co-owners of apartment buildings to participate in the state program "Warm Credits".
