The average wage level in Mariupol is taking the second place in Ukraine, right after Kyiv, which is the first. Vadym Boichenko, the Mayor of the city, told Ukraine TV channel about how these results have been achieved. The Mayor stressed that the key factor of wage growth was the modernization of municipal enterprises.
The prestige of publicutility companies was increased. The new uniform was purchased and the workshops were arranged. But the most important thing is that we have doubled salaries. People have got a motivation. We have created a healthy competition in the labor market. Business has been forced to raise wages so as not to lose its specialists

The average wage increased from 3,5 thousand to 7,5 thousand UAHfor a year and a half after reforming the municipal enterprises. According to the Mayor, one of the highest salaries of drivers of the municipal public transport is about 10 thousand UAH. Also, the Mayor said that the management of the metallurgicalcombines systematically raises the level of salaries of its employees.
