On February 15, in Kiev, a loan agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) has been signed. The loan amounts to EUR 12.5 mln. 64 new buses will be purchased.
Due to the work of Mariupol with the international financial institutions of IFC and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in 2019 it is planned to purchase 64 buses and 72 trolley buses. The reconstruction of the depot, where the equipment will be serviced, will also begin.
The total planned investment in the development of urban transport is more than EUR 30 mln. This amount includes loans from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (13 million euros), ‘E5P’ (3 million euros) and ‘IFC’ - 12.5 million euros. A grant from the Clean Technology Foundation (2 million euros) is also highlighted. Credits and loans are provided on favorable terms.
To date, the shortage of public transport in Mariupol is about 250 units. This is felt at peak times. The purchase of transport will solve this problem and improve the internal logistics of the city.
After the signing procedure, Mariupol will be able to proceed to the tender procedures and choose the bus suppliers. It is planned that the purchased transport will be used in Mariupol until the end of 2019.
