Mariupol celebrates the 240th anniversary of the discovery of new tourist magnets of Maria’s City cluster. Its highlight is the Theater Park and Square. A European musical fountain, a unique children's playground, unusual art objects, a fully landscaped area, new green spaces and architectural solutions have become a real gift for the residents of the city. The amount of investments into this project has been UAH 92 mln.
The city budget allocated almost UAH 68 mln for the reconstruction and the Metinvest Group added another UAH 25 mln. Together with the residents, the renovated square was visited by the Mayor of the City Vadim Boichenko, the Minister of the Interior Arsen Avakov, the People's Deputy of Ukraine Sergey Taruta, the Director General of the Metinvest Group Yuriy Ryzhenkov.
A new fountain became a real sensation for the residents. Its appearance changed more than once through the history. Some elements have disappeared and others have appeared. Today it is a modern flat fountain with illumination and musical accompaniment. The trickle of the fountain and the light of the illumination ‘beat up’ to the sounds of the classical melody harmoniously.
Within the framework of the reconstruction, all engineering networks have been completely replaced, paving slabs have been laid, ladders and ramps have been equipped. There was a stationary toilet with accessibility elements and a car park was reconstructed.
Mariupol residents are delighted with the new Theater Square. They made positive photos with new art objects, relaxed on benches and enjoyed the concert. A ‘green zoo’ did not leave anyone indifferent: giraffes, elephants and small elephants made everybody smile. A children's playground created an uproar. Boys and girls studied new labyrinths, mastered swings and slides. There was real fun where children's dreams came true.
A great interest was caused by the glass sarcophagus. You can see excavations under its dome, it is a fragment of the foundation of the Church of the Holy Virgin-Magdalene which situated on the place of the Drama theater. According to the Mayor, the idea to create a tourist cluster had to be started from that place.
Another gift was the transformation of the facades of three houses near the drama theater. They played with new colors and were equipped with lighting. UAH 14 mln have been invested from the city budget to update these houses.
