The first five ‘MAZ-203’ buses have arrived to Mariupol. The transport is purchased within the frameworks of the project of Mariupol city council and International Financial Corporation. The new vehicles will follow the routes 2, 10, 15 and 25.

The buses were represented in the depot 4. The deputy mayor Sergei Zakharov and the director of the transport department Vasiliy Klat told about the advantages.

‘The vehicles are equipped with modern electronics and new front lights. ‘MAZ’ set matrix optics for Mariupol for the first time. The salons are equipped with monitors and access system for physically disabled people. Four video cameras are set in every vehicle’, Sergey Zakharov told.

Every bus has the possibility to transfer up to 90 passengers. One of the main peculiarities of new transport is the opportunity to count passenger traffic. It will give the possibility to get right information about the quantity of people who use public transport.

‘Sensors of calculation of passenger traffic will permit to take decision concerning the time of work of the vehicles and the interval between the routes’, Vasiliy Klat admitted.

16 buses have to be delivered where 2 of them are of big capacity. In general, the transport park of the city will be enriched by 64 buses and 72 trolley-buses. The project on renewal of municipal fleet is realized by Mariupol city council in collaboration with International financial corporation and European Investment Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

According to Sergey Zakharov, after getting all items of vehicles, the contest for new routes will be led; it is being developed by the transport department of Mariupol city council.
