A renovated city technical lyceum will open its doors for students in September. The total budget for overhaul is more than UAH 36 million. They finance repairs through investments from the state, the Metinvest group and the city.

The technical lyceum will become a model of the way every school of the city should become. It was during a visit to the construction site, the mayor Vadim Boichenko told the People's Deputy of Ukraine Vadim Novinskiy and the Director General of ‘Metinvest Holding’ Ltd Yuriy Ryzhenkov.

Since 1958, the school has not been overhauled. As a result, deep cracks appeared. Now the facade of the Lyceum is being transformed. Its internal premises will combine both modern design and rich architectural and historical heritage of the building. Comfortable conditions are created for children to receive high-quality knowledge in creative classes equipped with modern IT equipment.

The mayor stressed that the strategic partner in the face of the Metinvest Group always helps to introduce positive changes, realize the tasks and challenges of the city. In particular, financial support will help to preserve those elements and architectural solutions that are historically significant for the building of the Technical Lyceum.

‘Every school of the city should look like this. We need to create conditions for our children to get maximum knowledge and opportunities from the educational process. A lyceum is an example of how changes in the sphere of education and reform should be,’
Vadim Boichenko said.

A technical lyceum will become a third-level school for three years. According to the mayor, this institution will become a ‘temple of science’. The Lyceum has already produced children who glorify Mariupol not only at the national level but also at the international level. Among the promising graduates are Ekaterina Malkina who received international recognition in the field of biology.

‘We are building an educational cluster in Mariupol and we want to link it to our higher educational institutions. Today, the program of support and development of the universities is being developed. We want such ‘temples of science’ to continue in the sphere of education to make outstanding children stay in Mariupol. It is necessary that our universities see this promising young people and their material and technical base corresponds to them. There is also support from business. It is about creation of possible interactive management models so that it would be interesting for young people to study at Mariupol universities’,
the mayor stressed.

The People's Deputy of Ukraine and the Director General of  ‘Metinvest Group’ highly assessed the progress of the work.

‘A technical lyceum is one of the examples of partnership that gives excellent results. We see certain projects and we see real progress. We are responsible for the development of the city and we will continue to help in the modernization of the social infrastructure’, Yuriy Ryzhenkov said.
