One of the main directions of the Mariupol-2030 Development Strategy is a qualitative transformation of the economy. Over the next 10 years, the city will face large-scale construction projects, infrastructure development and business support. Deputy Mayor Serhii Orlov spoke about this in more detail during the public discussion of the Strategy.

It is planned to resume flights with Mariupol, build a modern cold rolling shop, create a circular concrete road for freight transport, open a new university Metinvest-Polytechnic, create a network of industrial parks, a medical cluster, continue the reconstruction of embankments and build a water treatment plant.

According to Serhii Orlov, now the economy of Mariupol is developing 18% faster than the economy of Ukraine. Compared to 2016, the city's revenues for 2020 increased by 93.9%. In the future, the economy of Mariupol will be based on the IT sector, medicine, water bioeconomy, tourism and food industry. The existing areas - metallurgy, education, transport and the security sector - will continue to play a significant role.

“The IT sector is the future of Mariupol. All modern cities in Europe are actively developing this direction. The city sees great potential in the revival of the food industry. Now there are all the possibilities for this. Mariupol can become the center of the agricultural industry in the Azov and Donbas regions, ”he said.

In addition, 11 events and projects are planned for business development. They are aimed at incubating and promoting the development of micro, small and medium-sized businesses, the development of a culture of entrepreneurship and a service economy. After implementation, Mariupol should become the center of business tourism in the region.
