A public meeting has been held with the Mayor Vadim Boichenko and Metinvest Group Director General Yuriy Ryzhenkov in ‘Vezha’ free space. During the discussion, the results of cooperation between the city and the company were presented and options for the further development of Mariupol were discussed.

The Mayor, summing up the year, noted that in 2018 the budget of Mariupol amounted almost UAH 5 billion. Due to this, it was possible to carry out a number of large-scale projects and renovations.

‘We transformed these five billions into the approved city development strategy. We have formed a balanced city budget. Every sector of the economy, every sphere of life activity received a financial resource for its development,’
Vadim Boichenko stressed.

The correctness of the chosen course is indicated by opinion polls. If in 2015 the question ‘Do you like your city?’was answered ‘yes’ by only 36% of respondents, then this year they are already 86%.

Throughout the year, Metinvest Group provided assistance in the implementation of social projects and the reconstruction of the center. Only re-registration of the company's head office in Mariupol and payment of environmental tax by metallurgical enterprises will bring about UAH 160 million per year to the city budget. According to the mayor, the funds can be directed to sustainable green development: modernization of parks and recreational areas.

Yuriy Ryzhenkov noted that Mariupol is the focus of the company.

‘We started with a simple one — we allocated funds to the city for small projects. The next stage is larger projects. We bought trams, buses and repaired schools. In 2018, we invested into development projects. This is a good experience that has given the result’, he stressed.

Besides, the Director General of Metinvest focused on plans for modernizing the metallurgical enterprises of Mariupol.

After the presentations, a discussion was led with the representatives of the public about the planned projects for the next year. Vadim Boichenko called on all Mariupol residents to take initiative and participate in the development of the city in an active way.
