There are already 16 family-type children's homes in Mariupol, where more than 130 children are being brought up. One of them was visited by Mayor Vadym Boichenko and Chairman of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko.

The Galavanov family began their journey towards the creation of the Orphanage 20 years ago. Victoria decided to adopt the first girl - Elizabeth at that time.

‘After that, I was in the hospital and saw an abandoned boy. My husband and I decided to pick him up as well. Subsequently, other children were found on the site and taken to our family. So gradually we came to 11 children,’ the woman says.

As the family expanded, they realized that there was not enough room in their private home for such a large family. The City Council Children's Service did not stand aside. At the expense of a subvention from the state budget, they purchased a two-story house, which the family chose on their own.

Vadym Boichenko stressed that the city supports the creation of family-type houses as the main form of raising children deprived of parental care.

‘Our main task is that 95% of children deprived of parental attention should be brought up in such family-type homes. 16 houses have already been organized. This form of education forms the most important thing - family values. No other institution will give children such an inner content,’ the Mayor emphasized.

The same opinion was expressed by Pavlo Kyrylenko: ‘All the conditions are formed in family-type houses and the upbringing is provided that will give children the opportunity to confidently go through life in the future with correctly instilled values and principles. Therefore, such initiatives are supported in the region,’ Pavlo Kyrylenko noted.
