“The wounds on the body of Ukraine are the wounds of each of us” - this is the epigraph of the exhibition “Integrity”, which today opened in “Vezha”. Its author is a famous photographer from Kiev Zoya Shu. The opening was attended by Mayor Vadym Boichenko.
The author brought 10 works, some of which are exhibited for the first time. They depict the wounds of the military, which they received during the hostilities in the east of the country. Each photo is a complex story of people who went to defend the borders of the state.
“A year ago I saw a guy with a prosthesis. He had a tattoo of the Chernigov coat of arms on his leg. Then the thought flashed through my mind that the war had affected all regions, but we very rarely think about it. Then I started taking pictures of guys from different regions to show that the whole Ukraine is covered with wounds, ” Zoya Shu says.
With this cycle, she won this year at the international photography competition "The Prix de la Photographie" in Paris. Vadym Boichenko noted the importance of such art projects.
“We see in these photos young guys who, at the cost of their own health, allowed us to live and develop in Ukrainian Mariupol. And they continue to protect us. Such projects show the full depth and drama of the events that are now taking place in our country. This is especially important today, ” the Mayor emphasized.
The exhibition will run until October 14. The admission is free. It was held with the support of Mayor Vadym Boichenko on the Day of Defenders of Ukraine.
