At the session of Mariupol City Council, changes have been approved in the target program of support, adaptation and vocational guidance for children and youth with disabilities "Together - we are united." The allocation of additional funds for material assistance to families with children with disabilities is among them.
Let us remind you that the goal of the "Together - we are united" program is to maximize the integration of persons with disabilities into society, to create conditions for active inclusion in society, taking into account its personal capabilities and needs. It will allow a consistent, comprehensive and systematic approach to socialization, support, vocational guidance of children and youth with disabilities.
“It is important for us to create comfortable and accessible conditions for people with disabilities, to ensure their social security. One of the areas of work is the reconstruction of Left Bank District Center for Social Rehabilitation of Children with Disabilities. The redevelopment will increase the area of the center and receive twice as many children. On its basis, a new professional adaptation building for children from 14 to 18 years old will be opened. In addition, a day stay service will be available, ” Iryna Korobka, Director of the Department of Social Protection of the Population said.
About 1.5 thousand children with disabilities and about 4.5 thousand people with disabilities since childhood live in Mariupol. Currently, early intervention services, family support in difficult life circumstances are being actively introduced and developed, services are provided for social and educational rehabilitation, inclusive education, professional adaptation and rehabilitation of children and youth with disabilities. A team of specialists cooperates with families. There are doctors, physical rehabilitation specialists, psychologists, educators, speech therapists and social workers among them.
