An office of projects of the European Union has been opened in ‘Spalah’ IT-hub in Mariupol. The event was attended by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Director General for EU Enlargement at the European Commission Christian Danielson.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyi, two projects will be implemented in the office - to support decentralization and support the fight against corruption. The head of state stressed that Ukraine appreciates the help of European partners.

‘This is only a small part of the support of the European Union for Ukraine and the eastern regions that suffer most from the war. We greatly appreciate the support of our European partners. We feel it not only in words but in deeds. And we can see it today’,
the President said.

He also said that in general, EU support for Ukraine has already reached EUR 15 billion. As an example of a comprehensive European Union assistance program for Ukrainian Priazovie, Volodymyr Zelenskyi gave an example of modernization of railways from Mariupol to Zaporizhzhia and Nikolaev, support for small and medium-sized businesses and assistance to internally displaced persons.

In turn, Christian Danielson noted that the office will become an important contact center for both Mariupol residents and all residents of the Azov region: ‘We hope that this office will become a place where small business representatives, activists, representatives of local authorities and youth will meet , people who deal with decentralization and fight against corruption. Various events, meetings and conferences should be held here’.
