During the meeting, the representatives of the city council spoke about the plans in the field of social protection and an assistance to elderly people in 2019. They also listened to the proposals for the work of public transport.
The Deputy Mayor Sergei Zakharov, a director of the department of transport and communications Vasily Klat, a director of the department of social protection of the population Andrey Rempel met with the representatives of veteran organizations that bring people of retirement age to hear the opinions of the older generation and answer questions that concern them.
At the beginning of the meeting, Andrei Rempel said that many events are planned for 2019 that relate to the life of pensioners. It is planned to allocate UAH 32.5 mln to finance the field of social protection, a significant part of the costs will be related to the elderly.
‘Every year the budget for social protection is growing. In 2017, it was 12 million, in 2018 - 26 million. Next year we plan to increase it to 32.5 million. The number of services provided by the city budget will be increased. Premiums and cash greetings for long-livers will also be higher,’ Andrei Rempel said.
For representatives of relevant public and veteran organizations will hold holidays. Provide monthly cash assistance to 100-year-old Mariupol citizens, celebrate centenarians with a one-time bonus. Payment of housing and communal services to single apartment owners remains. Provide material assistance to people in difficult life circumstances. Hold "Summer Evenings" every Saturday in all parts of the city. They will also direct funds to the decent maintenance of the Territorial social service centers.
Sergey Zakharov spoke about the work of public utilities in 2019. According to him, according to the Development Strategy, the share of public transport in 2021 should be 70%. He claims that this year Mariupol received an agreement from the International Finance Corporation for a loan of about EUR 36 million for the repair of the MTTU depot and the purchase of 150 new trolleybuses.
Also, the deputy mayor focused on loading vehicles at peak times. He told about the profitability of the routes and noted the problems of staffing.
‘In order to improve the quality of service, to make the work of public transport profitable, we ask you to help us with this. In the morning a lot of people use public transport. Everyone needs to go to work, to schools and universities. Therefore, we ask you to make the most of your trips from 10.00 to 16.00. Thus, we will ‘unload’ transport during peak hours, ‘ the deputy mayor emphasized.
In turn, retirees expressed their suggestions and comments. They asked questions about the movement of vehicles, creation of the routes and fare.
