Representatives of the UNICEF organization, the German embassy in Ukraine, the KFW and GIZ companies have visited Mariupol on a working visit. They, together with the first deputy mayor Mikhail Kogut, discussed issues of water supply in the city and the quality of drinking water.

One of the pressing issues for Mariupol is the quality of drinking water. At present, hospitals, lyceums and other social institutions receive free purified Social Water. Water tanks are installed in preschool and educational institutions of the city. The project was implemented with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). UNICEF has been working closely with Mariupol since 2016.

‘During the conflict in the region, an international organization was one of the first to help the city. With its support, the plumbing along Mira Avenue was repaired and excavators were purchased. Also in the Kalmiussky district they reconstructed the Sartanskaya water pumping station,’ Mikhail Kogut stressed.

Director of Vodokanal Gennady Izyumov said that since 2016 the projects have been implemented for a total amount of UAH 75 million jointly with UNICEF.

At the end of the meeting, UNICEF representatives noted that Mariupol is developing noticeably. They are interested in further cooperation with the city.
