Ambassador of France Isabelle Dumont has had a working visit to Mariupol. She met with the students and teachers of Mariupol State University and students of the City Lyceum.

Isabelle Dumont noted that the French Embassy pays special attention to our city.

‘We want to cooperate with cities, where we think we can work effectively with local authorities. We saw that we can work well and honestly with the Mariupol authorities,’ the Ambassador explained.

She began meeting with students by asking whether they know about a French loan for a water treatment project in Mariupol and whether they consider it to be important. Mariupol recognized that the issue of water purification is particularly relevant for our city.

The students were interested in whether French would be taught at schools at the same level as English in the future, as the Ambassador appreciates the ‘yellow vests’ movement and is it difficult to occupy such a position.

Isabelle Dumont also got acquainted with students from Cameroon and Nigeria, noting that attracting students from different regions of the world testifies to the openness of the university.

The meeting with the lyceum students was completely in French. Mariupol students told about their achievements in learning the language, and the teachers shared the idea of creating a French exam center on the basis of the lyceum. In turn, Isabelle Dumont said that the lyceum had a friendly ambience. She presented the principal  a medal with the image of Marianna - the Symbol of France.
