French Ambassador to Ukraine Isabelle Dumont has arrived to Mariupol. As part of her working visit, she with city mayor Vadim Boichenko visited the Arkhip Kuindzhi Art Museum.
The ambassador said she had dreamt of seeing this museum for several years. Warm memories are connected with the work of Arkhip Kuindzhi. At the age of 15 she first saw the works of a Mariupol artist. His paintings made a big impression on her. After that, to be in Kuindzhi's homeland and visit the museum named after him for Isabelle Dumont is very exciting.
For honored guests, the museum director Tatiana Buli conducted a tour of the exhibition halls. They learned about the life of the Mariupol artist. An interesting fact was that before marrying Kuindzhi came to Marseille for a festive costume.
Among the copies of the artist's paintings, the museum contains three original works of Arkhip Ivanovich. One of them is the sketch ‘Red Sunset’ - attracted the attention of Isabelle Dumont with its bright colors.
‘It is very good that there is a museum in Mariupol, which reminds residents of the city that the world famous artist lived and worked here. I am fond of painting. I always liked the paintings of Arkhip Kuindzhi. I am glad to be in his homeland and learn a lot about his life’, the Ambassador shared her impressions.
At the end of the meeting, Vadim Boichenko presented Isabel Dumont with a memorable book about Kuindzhi's works, written by experts of the Mariupol Regional Museum and a souvenir medallion with a portrait of the artist.
