During the regular session of the City Council it has been voted for the adoption of the draft decision ‘On approving material assistance for the purchase of solid fuel to the citizens of Mariupol in autumn-winter period 2018-2019’. The citizens of preferential categories and grantees, that do not have gas in their houses, will be able to get help. The estimated contingent is 2200 families. For this purpose, UAH 8.5 million will be allocated from the city budget.

Mariupol faced the problem of high prices for coal as it was the previous year. If the estimated price of this fuel is UAH 2400 per ton, then it is UAH 3000, 5000 and even 6000 per ton in Mariupol. Therefore, it was decided to develop a draft solution that would help the citizens not to be cold in winter.

‘It applies to the most unprotected citizens who live in dilapidated homes without gas supply. Last year we made a similar decision. Thus, we helped Mariupol citizens to heat their homes during a cold period,’ Andrei Rempel, the Head of the Department of Social Protection of the Population said.

The Head of the Department noted that material assistance is intended for residents of preferential categories and people who receive a subsidy. For beneficiaries, the amount of assistance will be UAH 3200 and for grantees it is UAH 1500. To do this, it is allocated UAH  8.5 million from the city budget.

‘We must not allow our residents to remain without heat in their homes. Let's be socially responsible to those who, unfortunately, have faced the problem of heating of their homes’,
the Mayor Vadim Boichenko stressed.
