Trolleybus route № 3 has been launched in Mariupol. It links “Zapadny” micro district and the railway station. This became possible due to the arrival of the fourth batch of trolleybuses in the city. They were acquired as part of a joint project of the Mariupol City Council and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The work of the new transport was inspected by the Mayor Vadym Boichenko.

“The key factors are safety and comfort for passengers and staff. The new trolleybuses fully comply with them. We are successfully creating a new transport infrastructure in Mariupol. We must also adhere to the culture of servicing equipment and the culture of behavior, both conductors and passengers”,

- Vadym Boichenko noted.

15 new "electric cars" have already been tested and are fully prepared for work. They will replace old transport on 8 routes and reinforce the operation of six more routes. Thus, improving transport services for the villages of Slobodka and Gavan and reducing the waiting time at stops.

It is important that the electricity consumption in new trolleybuses is 35% less. They are equipped with an air conditioning system, a folding ramp for people with disabilities and electronic displays. The interior is equipped with comfortable Polish-made seats with a special washable coating. The transport is pre-prepared for the installation of validators for the implementation of the electronic ticket system. According to the delivery schedule by the end of 2020, the remaining batch of trolleybuses will arrive in Mariupol. In total, 72 items were purchased.

The length of the new route is 7.7 km. It will connect key infrastructural and social facilities: the Police Academy, Moscow State University, Center of Administrative Services, Priazov State Technical University, Theatre Square and the railway station.

Now in Mariupol, a transport development model is being developed until 2030. Experts will develop an algorithm for replacing transport in the future and adjusting routes depending on the demand. For this purpose, passenger traffic meters and video surveillance cameras are installed in the cabins of buses and trolleybuses.

According to the director of the Department of Transport and Communications Vasyl Klat, all conductors and drivers are required to undergo training to help people with disabilities. In the meantime, there is no need to know about it.
