A historical cluster of the city of Mary will be recreated by the Day of the City of Mariupol. The amount of investments in the project is more than UAH 1 billion. Today, Vadim Boichenko has shown to the People's Deputy of Ukraine Vadim Novinskiy the projects that are planned to be implemented for the 240th anniversary of Mariupol. Among them there is the reconstruction of the Theater Square, the improvement of nearby houses in Mira Avenue and the completion of the construction of the Holly Virgin Intercession Church.
The development of the ‘City of Mary’ cluster will not only preserve the cultural and historical heritage of Mariupol but will also create tourist ‘magnet objects’ in the heart of the city. According to Vadim Boichenko, Mariupol has something to be proud of because its history is truly unique. He showed Vadim Novitskiy a number of objects that are needed to be reconstructed.
Thus, in the plans of this year there is a reconstruction of the Theater Square. There will be a new fountain, the children's playground will be updated, an art space will be created, a pedestrian zone and landscaping will be reconstructed, an outdoor lighting and engineering networks will be changed. During the presentation, Vadim Novinskiy with the city mayor talked with the citizens who play chess in the open air. They were asked what they wanted to transform in the Theater Square, so that it would be convenient and comfortable for all tourists.
‘With the advent of Vadim Boichenko as the mayor, life in Mariupol has gone in a different way. It is completely reconstructed and the city shows new standards of management. The mayor sets absolutely ambitious goals - to make Mariupol not only an industrial but a postindustrial city. I'm sure he will do it. And then its success will need to be shown to the whole country, so that everyone can see that it is possible to work without corruption and make right decisions. This will be an example for everybody,’Vadim Novinskiy said.
In turn, Vadim Boichenko said that the implementation of projects is a big challenge for Mariupol. The timing of their implementation depends on the builders. The main task is to attract a maximum of construction organizations and select them properly through the ProZorro site.
The People's Deputy was also told about the reconstruction of nearby houses and Mira Avenue. The Holly Virgin Intercession Church was visited by general directors of the city-forming enterprises of the Metinvest Group to find out what assistance is required to complete its construction.
‘It is necessary to complete this good deal so that Mariupol citizens could come here, pray and feel peace in their souls. When there is peace in every soul, the peace will be around us. The war does not start when the shooting is begun but when hatred and anger appears. And when there is peace in your heart, the war will never come,’ Vadim Novinskiy said.
