A delegation from France has paid a working visit to Mariupol. Together with representatives of the municipality, they inspected the territory of the city coast and discussed the stages of its reconstruction. To note, the French experts cooperate with Mariupol in three directions: realization of the project of modernization of water supply system of the city, reconstruction of embankments, the help in creation of Strategy of development of the city till 2030.

Mykolai Tryfonov, head of the investment and project management department of the Mariupol City Council, noted that Mariupol had received about EUR 110,000 in financial support from the French Ministry of Ecology, as well as the opportunity to attract international specialists.

"Our goal is to help Mariupol in the improvement of beaches and promenades. In France, there are many positive examples of beach renovations in industrial cities. We will share this experience and offer world-class practices,” Martin Renard, a representative of the Aquitaine Coast public benefit association said.

According to experts, each of the beaches has its own characteristics, which will be taken into account in the work. The main goal is to make the beaches of Mariupol comfortable for recreation on the example of European cities, while preserving the ecosystem of the coast.

“There will be several working visits, the next ones are planned for spring 2021. Based on them, experts will assess the state of the coast and sea currents. Then they will give recommendations for the reconstruction of beaches, taking into account the comfort of visitors and the preservation of the natural landscape," Mykolai Tryfonov said.
