Today 33 new buses have been taken to the streets of Mariupol, 5 of them are double buses. Transport was received as part of a joint project of Mariupol City Council and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Together with Mariupol residents, Mayor Vadym Boichenko appreciated the high level of comfort of the new buses.

‘Mariupol is number 1 in Ukraine. The investments of international partners solve the problem of internal logistics of the city. Our goal is to enable residents to move in a free and comfortable way around the city. These challenges are solved by the new transport model of the city developed by IFC. This is also a pilot project that will be copied by other cities of Ukraine. Due to it, we will build a unique transport hub and create 600 working places’,
Vadym Boichenko noted.

Since today the new buses will have strengthen the work of old routes. 25 of them will have the routes of 12a, 15a and 25. Cooperation with the International Finance Corporation involves the purchase of 64 new buses in the amount of EUR 12.5 million. 15 double buses are of the MAZ 215 brand and 49 buses are of the MAZ-203 brand.

Besides, a transport model of the city was developed together with IFC. It is built on complex mathematical calculations. We took into account the movement of all types of transport, both private and public. A city network schedule has been created and described taking into account allowed maneuvers, speed, number of lanes, throughputs and other attributes.

It is worth mentioning that in three years Mariupol has managed to renew part of the worn-out public transport. 113 units of equipment were purchased: 60 trams, 24 trolley buses and 29 new buses.
