In Mariupol, a plenary meeting of the 48th session of the city council is being held. The key issue of the last session of 2019 was the approval of the draft budget for 2020. According to the director of the finance department, Ekaterina Kalenik, the main financial document is as balanced as possible in key areas of development. It is developed based on the laws of Ukraine and taking into account the Mariupol Development Strategy until 2021.

In 2020, the budget revenue indicator will be UAH 4 billion 347 million. Own revenues will amount to more than 3.5 billion and transfers - 606 million. Compared to 2016, revenue increased by more than UAH two billion. There is also an increase compared to the current year.

‘Such a structured and detailed budget does not represent a single community. Here, each figure is assigned to a specific initiative. Our common goal is the development of the city of Mariupol. It is intended to become a showcase of the restored Ukrainian Donbass’,
Mayor Vadym Boichenko stressed.

According to Dmitry Miroshnichenko, member of the parliamentary commissions for the preparation of the draft budget, the main financial document of 2020 was prepared as openly and transparently as possible.

‘The budgetary regulations that we adopted at the beginning of our cadence were fully complied with. All meetings of the commissions were held in accordance with the schedule. Our commission received all the necessary clarifications from the relevant departments. The way they presented it to us this year is a titular example for all the communities of Ukraine,’ he said.

One of the key indicators of the revenue side of the budget is the minimum wage level. In 2020, it will grow by 13.2% and amount to UAH 4723. Also at the end of 2020, an increase in the cost of living is expected to reach UAH 2270.

It is worth noting that the revenue part of the city budget, compared to 2019, will grow by about UAH 150 million. This amount will be aimed at supporting the most important areas such as medicine, the development of HOAs and the sustainable development of transport infrastructure.
